Which engine to choose?

The engine represents a large portion of any trail boat package often 50% or more so it is worth considering the engine options and not just on the basis of price!
To start with in my opinion and experience there are no bad engines in the <150 hp category if you stick to the accepted brands, but in certain areas and I say this only from what I’ve been told, some dealers can be ‘indifferent’ to their customers needs.
So it’s worth finding out which dealer in your area is recommended, gives good reliable service and on time. Some engine dealers are working with waiting times of weeks.
Without doubt a good local dealer is worth every penny, so give strong consideration to the brands that he represents.
One dealer had infact told our customer that he wouldn’t consider a warranty claim since he didn’t supply the engine! Which is total nonsense, and foolish on his part because he gets paid by the manufacturer.
As builders we supply engines on an OEM basis (original equipment manufacturers) and all our engines are UK spec. and registered at the relevant manufacturers so all warranties etc are valid.
Weight:

Nord Fisher 150 18 Months on
I wanted a good all round boat to get me out fishing around the coast, looked at new / second hand but could not find anything I liked. Then in early November 2007 I found a web site advertising the Nord Fisher 150, looked at the build pictures showed what looked like a solid and well designed little boat which turned out to be “exactly what it said on the tin“.
I contacted the Builder and visited his work shop and that’s when I met the designer and builder Phil, within minutes I could tell that he was dedicated to Boating in general, after looking at one of his boats under construction I placed an order. January 2, 2009Now that Christmas is over, we can now look forward to the new year with a degree of excitement. In our works we’ve lots to do, new tooling for the Nord Fisher 190 and revamping the interior moulding of the 150, so if the phone rings a little less, it’s giving us a chance to sharpen our operation and increase our production capability.
During the first quarter of 2009, we’ll be making some very attractive offers available on our Nord Fisher 150’s and Sprint’s. These boats will be supplied as ‘engine ready’ or complete packages with Suzuki or Honda outboards.
There will be ‘no compromise on the build’ either, just because we’ve cut the price, each boat will offer the same high standards and value that our existing owners enjoy.
